Thiruvananthauram : A-I groups and group-free members of Congress are warming up to confront K Sudhakaran's overhaul plan for Congress . Following wide opposition to 5-member re-hauled committee proclaimed by Sudhakaran, Rahul Gandhi had asked for refrain on unilateral decisions
What remains to be seen however is, will Sudhakaran in effect roll back the plan given that Oomen Chandy and Ramesh Chennithala are determined to fight tooth and nail against Sundhakaran’s staff-limiting plans at KPCC.
In the Political Affairs Committee meeting scheduled Wednesday, K Sudhakaran will present the plan to reduce KPCC office bearer numbers to one-fourth its current strength - a move that both A, I groups are set to vehemently protest. However, that plan has solid backing from KC Venugopal and Sudhakaran is likely to pass it through not withstanding the opposition. Shrinking KPCC office bearers will have drastic impact on the staff community and the groups alike.
More specifically, Sudhakaran will propose to keep a maximum of 15 office bearers apart from the President and Working Presidents . The strategic cut is set to trigger heated arguments at the meeting, at the end of which, if plan passes through, Oomen Chandy and Chennithala will propose their choice of office bearers. However, Sudkhakaran is calculating to ignore those names an instead install persons outsidet the recommended list - a move designed to rein in longlived group vigour. The sail will not be smooth though for Sudhakaran, given that an overwhelming opposition by Oomen Chandy and Chennithala would mean the plan could hit the wall. Meanwhile, several including KC Joseph are of the view to somehow not yield to Sudhakaran’s arbitrariness.
