Thiruvananthapuram : The government attitude is one that of holding commoners close, a reason why it decided to remit Welfare pensions arrears before paying salaries to the government employees, said Minister GR Anil.
The government has not held back Onam kit despite crises. The AAY(Yellow) ration card holders and residents of welfare institutions will receive Onam kit. Ration will be delivered at doorsteps in tribal hamlets, the minister said inaugurating the state-level distribution of Onam kit.
Onam kits will become available at ration shops from Thursday lasting up to Sunday. AAY cardholders have to collect the kit from their concerned ration outlet. There are 5,87,691 AAY cardholders and 20,000 welfare institution residents in the State. The Onam kit contains 14 items packed in cloth bag each.
Ration shops open this Sunday, Monday
Ration shops will remain open on the 27th and 28 i.e. Sunday and Monday. It will then close for three days from Thiruvaoam to Chadhayam.
