Ezhukone : The State Govt renders respite to the family of slain soldier, H Visakh, killed in an encounter with terrorists last October. The martyr’s sister - Odanavattom Kadvatur native Shilpa, has been conferred with a government job.
Shilpa will work as clerk at office in Kollam. The Finance Minister, KN Balagopal, phoned Shilpa with the news. Shilpa and Vishak’s mother Beenakumari expressed gratitude for the appointment. Shilpa, a graduate, is currently pursuing her course of DCA.
The government took over the family’s Rs 27 lakh liability on the very day of Vishakh’s martyrdom and also on the day assured speeding up procedures to provide the bereaved sister Shilpa with govt employment. On the day, Finance Minister KN Balagopal had visited Vishakh’s home in Thiruvananthapuram and offered condolences to the martyr’s family.
24-year-old H. Visakh was a jawan with the Maratha Regiment. In a terrorist encounter on the morning of 11 October, he was shot dead by militants in Punj district of Jammu Kashmir where he had arrived as part of a search operation team following intelligence on terrorists hiding in the area.
