Governor Approves Justice Alexander’s Appointment As Chairperson of Human Rights Commission

Thiruvananthapuram : The Governor, Arif Mohammed Khan,  approved the government recommendation to appoint Justice Alexander Thomas as Chairperson of the Human Rights Commission. Justice Alexander has worked as former Acting Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court and was judge at the High Court for more than eight years.

Justice Alexander was nominated consensually  by the  high-level committee comprising the Chief Minister, the Speaker and Opposition Leader.

Justice Alexander pursued legal studies in England at the University of London and is well versed with Constitutional, Criminal, Civil, Labour, Service and Company Laws and has delivered judgements in  an aggregate of 25,000 cases as judge at Kerala High Court.

The accomplished judge has also served as President of Kerala Judicial Academy, Executive Chairman of Kerala Legal Services Authority and President of Kerala State Mediation and Conciliation Centre. He was Executive Chairman of Kerala Unit of Indian Law Institute. Justice Thomas did his LLB from Delhi University and MS from Cochin University.
