Kannur : A raise in prisoners’ wages is under active consideration, said Minister EP Jayarajan on Saturday. The govt seeks to transform prisons into institutions that hold hope for a future for its inmates, said Minister during his announcement of Harita Jail project for Kannur’s Sub-Jail.
Prisons are not meant to destroy people’s work potential. Rather these are places meant to make them more humane. Jails should be able to transform minds of its inmates. Changes introduced by the govt to prison rules for keeping up with times have been beneficial, the minister said.
