Groups Remain With Backs Turned: DCC Reorganisation Plunged Into Uncertainty

Special CorrespondentUpdated: Tuesday Feb 8, 2022

Thiruvananthapuram : Resentment is thick inside  state Congress, with Groups and leaders refusing to even come to the table on topic of  appointment of KPCC secretaries and DCC office bearers. KPCC President K Sudhakaran is back from  Delhi with Jumbo List for secretaries. It is  however  unclear if the High Command has approved of it.

In Delhi, K Sudhakaran held talks only with KC Venugopal - the AICC Gen Secretary who is also  in charge of organisation. The plan was to appoint 50 members as secretaries. The draft list contains numbers far greater thoug. , K Sudhakaran’s plan  to make appointments before the Returning Officer assumed  charge, has fallen apart.  Senior leader, Oomen Chandy and Ramesh Chennithala are yet to submit their lists.

Groups have turned their backs on DCC reorganisation as well. Most districts hdo not have their lists ready although  K Sudhakaran’s ultimatum required all to submit them by 5th Feb latest. Groups are playing the ‘discontent card’ to prolong reorganisation.

Meanwhile, discord  is intense between KPCC President K Sudhakaran and Opposition Leader VD Satheesan. No talks have been  held yet with either Oomen Chandy or Ramesh Chennithala. Oomen Chandy, who’s leaving for Goa, and Chennithala to Tamil Nadu, will both return on the 10th.  Groups are perturbed by the fact that no discussions have been held with Oomen Chandy and Chennithala.

K Sudhakaran is aiming  to just collect lists from districts and then  go about  appointing  steadfast supporters. However, Groups are equally braced up  to prevent that from happening.
