Guruvayur: Guruvayur : Suresh Gopi’s comments after touring of Guruvayur railway overbridge, is unfounded, said MLA NK Akbar in a statement. The visit by itself is a facade. The Centre has not spent a single rupee for the project. The overbridge is being built solely by the State government funding, borrowed from KIIFB.
Also, the construction works of the overbridge are progressing at high speed. 45 percent of the works are in just 10 months time.. The rest is progressing at impressive pace. An assessment meeting is held each month to appraise current progress after which, decisions are taken and later course of works are done in line with the updated decisions. And, it is amid such rigorous appraisal and meticulous works that, Suresh Gopi brags about roping in Central intervention for completing the works.
True, the road traffic in the proximity of the overbridge currently faces a few snags. The curbs there and put in place, to prevent mishaps or accidents. At least for the time being, it would not be possible to open service roads to full extent. The work involves installing girders and spans weighing multiple tonnes and having no curbs would mean higher chances of accidents and danger to lives. It is surprising that Suresh Gopi, when bragging about engineering oversights, fails to take into account the potential for accidents.
The public would be able to see why, after convening an online meeting of leaders and people representative, a BJP leader was selected to go solo with visit of the site and comments about it. One wonders if these elements are transforming into BJP Seva Sanghs. People should not fall for their false propaganda, MLA Akbar said in the statement.
