Haridas Murder : Teacher Arrested For Harbouring Culprit In Her Vacant House

Thalassery : Police have arrested PA Reshma(42), the teacher who helped hide murder culprit and RSS worker Nijil at a vacant house of hers during manhunt.  Nijil is prime accused in murder of CPI(M) worker Hardias in Kodiyeri’s Punnoli.

Reshma arranged for Nijil to stay in her empty house, fully aware there was a police manhunt for him.  Nijil had called his teacher friend Reshma after Vishu saying “police are looking for me. I need a house to stay” She responded by making all arrangements at her house in Pandyalmukkal where he moved in from 17 April. All calls the two made were via WhatsApp. People in the neighbourhood noticed Reshma visiting the house at odd times of day and by night. Police believe the two share relation of several years. Police set all their evidences in place before taking her into arrest.

Reshma is married to a Gulf employee, Prashanth,  from Andlurkauv. She lives with their children in a house close to Andurkaauv. The house in Pandyalmukkal in Pinarayi was built two years ago. While Prashant arrives on vacation, the family  lives in both houses on and off. Reshma, who works as media coordinator at Amrita Vidyalaya, knew  beforehand of Nijil’s status as murder culprit. As per section 212 of Indian Penal Code, Reshma faces up to 5 years in prison.
