Hate Speech In Haridwar: 76 Lawyers Write To Supreme Case For Suo Motto Case

New Delhi : Seventy six lawyers wrote to  Supreme Court urging  suo motto case against hate speech made at   conclave of Dharma Sansadh held in Haridwar.  The letter was addressed to Chief Justice of India, NV Ramana.

In the congregation held 17- 20 December attended by various Hindutva organsiations, multiple speakers called for Muslim genocide for installing Hindu State.  Ethnic cleansing against Muslims like the one carried out in  Myanmar should be conducted, said Prbhodanand Giri at the conclave. In line with the Myanmar model, the police, armed forces, politicians and all Hindus should rise up in arms for the genocide. There is no other option left for us -such were provocations spelt by some of the congregation’s speech givers. The  murderous call became known after videos on the congregation surfaced  on social media.

The letter  says : Police action in the matter is largely inadequate. Therefore, the apex court must make intervention, the letter urges the letter. The incident is an open call for annihilation of a race  This kind of speeches  are threats to   the country’s unity. Moreover, these kinds calls puts into jeopardy lives of lakhs of Muslims in the country.

Signatories to the letter comprised advocates Dushyanth Dave, Prashanth Bhushan, Vrinda Grover, Salman Khurshid, Anjana Prakash etc.

Speakers calling for rioting against the Muslims and  their mass murders  included Hindu Mahasabha General Secretary Sadhvi Annapurna, Hindu Rakshasena leader Pramanand Giri, BJP leader Aswini Upadyay and Mahila Morcha leader Udhith Tyagi.
