KG Karta emerges from questioning room from Alappuzha police club on Wednesday

Thrissur/Alappuzha : BJP’s Alappuzha District Treasurer KG Karta confesses his involvement in the curious case where,  havala money to the tune  RS 3.5 crore transported in for election purposes was way laid and looted by party men themselves. Havala racketeer Dharmaraj had earlier testified that Rs 3.5 crores dispatched by former Yuva Morcha state treasurer, Sunil Naik was instructed to be delivered to Karta. During questioning on Wednesday, although Karta initially denied any communication with Dharmaraj, he confessed to his involvement after cops laid out  proof of his telephone conversations with multiple culprits in the case. BJP State Secretary M Ganeshan and Office Secretary G Girish will be summoned for questioning soon after which, probe officers will quiz Karta once again.

According to reports, police have obtained crucial information on involvement of high-level leaders in  the case. Meanwhile,  a raid at the residence of the 6th accused, Martin, unearthed Rs 9 lakhs in cash and items worth RS 10 lakhs. After the robbery, Martin had purchased a Innova car for Rs 3 lakh in cash and gold worth Rs 3.5 lakhs. Including deposits made in bank, the police seized a total of Rs. 19.5 lakhs from Martin.  With this, the total recovered from culprits rose  to Rs 1.5 crores.  Police are calculating to come up on rest of the money once they are through with questioning other BJP leaders.

Karta  Arrived In Party Car Along With President
BJP’s  Alappuzha District treasurer KG Karta arrived at Alappuzha Police Club  in party car accompanied by the District President MV Gopakumar.  There, the questioning that began 9.45 am on Wednesday lasted  up to  2.30 pm  afternoon. Gopakumar waited outside the room for the full four-and-half hours. Later when Karta emerged from the session, he told reporters he had no connection whatsoever with the case, adding that, they may verify this with the state president or other party leaders.
