Thiruvananthapuram : KPCC president K Sudhakaran backtracked on his claim that he never knew the complainant Anoop related to antiques scam. At press conference on Wednesday, Sudhakaran said he met with Anoop while on visit for eye treatment at Monson's house, adding that, he recalled the face only on seeing him on television.
At the confernce, Sudhakaran said he had nothing to do with Anoop and denied there was any money exchanged under his mediation. In the complaint, Anoop stated that he had handed over Rs 25 lakh to now-arrested Monson Mavunkal in front of K Sudhakaran. A photo, suggestive of that scenario surfaced recently showing Sudhakaran, Monson and Anoop seated side by side at the conman’s residence in Kochi.
Asked for response on Benny Behnan’s accusation, Sudhakaran said there was no lack of vigil on his part. “Do not fling questions relating to Benny Behnan. Party discipline applies to me too,” Sudhakaran told reporters, adding that, he will pursue legal action if Monson has swindled money by misrepresenting his name.
Faced with questions on why he was at centre of the storm, Sudhakaran resorted to a far-fetched escape saying, “There is attempt to destroy me politically, given that restructuring of Congress has intimidated CPI(M).”
