Thiruvananthapuram : Health Minister Veena George convened officials from 6 districts with high TPR namely, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod. The meeting was called on instructions from Chief Minister and was also attended by the respective District Collectors and District Chief Medical Officers. The meeting took stock of current situation along with discussed tasks for coming days.
Stringent measures should be taken to bring down the Test Positivity Rate(TPR), the Health Minister said at the meeting. All six districts have met their testing targets. Still testing should be upped at places reporting high numbers. Quarantine and contact tracing should be intensified. Persons lacking quarantine facility at home should be moved to DCCs. The DCCs, CFLs and DCs should be equipped further. People with covid related illnesses too should be hospitalized and awareness campaign workers must make visits to such hospitals, the minister said.
Efforts must be intensified with view to upcoming third wave. Maximum number of people should be vaccinated for effective mitigation. Vaccination process should be intensified for the purpose, said the minister. The meeting also assessed preparations so far toward fighting the 3rd wave.
The Health Principal Secretary Dr. Rajan, N Bobgade, Health Director Dr. V R Raju, Additional Directors, District Surveillance Officers and Lab Surveillance team participated in the meeting.
