Srinagar : The Jammu - Srinagar national highway has been shut to traffic following heavy rains and mudslides. In areas with landslides, authorities are working to have debris moved ad facilitate clearing. The Jammu - Srinagar highway is lifeline connecting Kashmir valley to rest of the country.
With traffic shuttered, shortage to essential supplies would pose a major problem. Landslips have heaped debris onto the highway at several places making it impossible for vehicles to make throughfare, said authorities.
