Thiruvananthapuram : Heavy rains took three lives on Monday in the state. The casualties are : Riyas, Rajesh and 2-and-half-year-old girl Rema. Rajesh and Rema died in cascading waters from torrential rains while, Riyas died around 3.30 pm yesterday, washed away by strong currents from flooding in Pullakarayil area. As Riyas was being swept away, locals ran along the road in a bid to rescue him but failed. Later, the people and Fire Force made searches of the area before stumbling up on the body close to the bridge in Kuttikall’s Chappath.. There is also a person reported missing in the rains on Monday.
For today, isolated but heavy rains are predicted in the state. Also high winds gusting up to 55 kmph are likely to accompany. In the heavy rains of Monday, landslides were reported at four locations in hillsides of Kannur.
