Kochi: The High Court on Thursday asked government to inform the timeline for engineering admission procedures.
The Bench said AICT has not responded with its stance on extending last date for engineering admission procedures and demanded that it submit a response today. The lawyer appearing for AICT said the deadline for admissions was fixed as 25th Sept following Supreme Court ruling on the topic. The case then became adjourned to post-noon session.
The court was hearing a batch of petitions, some of which argued for deciding admissions based solely on entrance exam marks while others sought weightage for higher secondary exam marks too. The petitions came from students and CBSE management association.
Students are currently allowed time up to 17th for uploading their mark lists. However, with results of CBSE and ICSE improvement exams still pending, the government informed that it was willing to extend the last date if AICT was consenting. Those with complaints claim that state govt schools have lend high marks to their students – a factor that poses impediment to their chance for admissions.
