High Court Stops Authorities From Demolishing Building in Lakshadweep

Kochi : The High Court on Tuesday blocked authorities in Lakshadweep from demolishing a building located in 20 meters of the sea. The ruling came on petition submitted by an island native.

In its verdict, the court said the Block Development Office lacked powers to issue notice against violating rules.

The verdict further read that, the petitioner will respond to the showcause notice issued to him and that inmates of the building shall not be evicted without court permission.
