Kochi : The High Court on Thursday allowed a re-investigation into the death of violinist Balabhaskar.  Ruling favourably to plea from Balabhaskar’s father, the Court directed CBI, who is currently handling the case, to re-probe and find if there was murder conspiracy involved. The probe must be completed within 3 months, the Court said.

Balabhaskar and his toddler daughter died in a car crash at Pallipuram near Thiruvananthapuram as the family  headed back from a temple visit in Thrissur on 25th September 2019. The Crime Branch that investigated the death first and CBI who took it over later, both concluded the death was result of a vehicle accident. However the violinist’s parents are of the firm belief that the crash was result of a murder ploy hatched by Balabhaskar’s close friends Prakash Thambi and Vishnu Somadundara, who would be later indicted in a separate gold-smuggling case.
