Kochi : The High Court on Thursday rejected a plea claiming the government had lend permissions to socio-religious gatherings in the state, in violation of centre’s rules to mitigate covid pandemic. The petition was filed by two lawyers who argued that, the state lend nod for gatherings of up to 100 persons. . The plea was heard by Bench comprising Chief Justice S Mani Kumar and Justice Shaji P. Chali.
The directive issued by the state adheres to the guidelines issued by the centre and High Court order, government told the court. Following centre’s notification dated 30 May, no place of worship has been restricted from opening. Safe distancing rules were instructed alongside to all establishments in line with Centre’s orders, the government informed the Bench.
Intriguingly, the petitioners have not raised the question on violations against worship on-goings in churches or private temples, government pointed out to the court.
