Kochi : The High Court on Tuesday stayed the verdict annulling Devikulam election results. The interim stay is valid for 10 days and is being granted to allow time to approach the Supreme Court. The court had annulled the CPI(M)) MLA , A. Raja’s election win yesterday.
The annulment came over court observation that A Raja, a Christian convert, was not eligible for the seat reserved for Scheduled castes under the Representation of the People Act.
The verdict came from Justice P Somarajan over petition filed by of UDF candidate D Kumar who lost the election.
