New Delhi : IPS officer probing the Israt Jahan fake encounter case has been terminated from service. Falling in the line of fire is IPS officer Satheesh Chandravarma. The Central move comes even as Satheesh is due for retirement on 30 September. The dismissal comes citing irregularities during service tenure. Satheesh presently is IG at CRPF in Coimbatore.
The said encounter dates back to 2004 when four peole including Israt Jahan - a student from Mumbai and Malyali Javed Sheikh aka Pranesh Kumar were shot dead in Gujarat. They were slain in an alleged fake encounter, accused of being a terrorist gang that had arrived in Gujarat to assassinate then Chief Minster Narendra Modi.
According to sources, Sateesh Chandravarma is set to approach Supreme Court to challenge the dismissal order.
