Thiruvananthapuram : The State government on Tuesday declared public holiday in mark of respect for former Chief Minister Oomen Chandy who passed away this morning. The banks too will stay shuttered for the day. A two-day official mourning period too has been announced.
All government offices, educational institutions including professional colleges, public sector establishments, statutory bodies, autonomies bodies and establishments under the Negotiable Instruments act will have holiday today. The Chief Secretary ordered the national flag to be flown at half-mast during the two-day official mourning.
All examinations scheduled for today by Kerala University, Mahatma Gandhi University, Calicut University and Technical Universities have been postponed. University officials informed that the revised date will be announced later. PSC exams however will be conducted unchanged.
