Kannur/Thiruvananthapuram : Communities across districts paid homage in the memory of the extraordinary communist warrior and longest-tenured Chief Minister of Kerala, EK Nayanar on his death anniversary today. The Pinarayi government’s successive return to power amid Covid crises makes Nayanar remembrances all the more pronounced.
CPI(M) acting Secretary, A. Vijayaraghavan, unfurled the party flag at AKG Centre commemorating Nayanar Day. Nayanar bid farewell forever on 19th March of 2004.
At Payyambalam Memorial, floral tributes were paid led by CPI(M) Kannur District Secretary MV Jayarajan, who then hoisted the party flag at Nayanar Academy in Barnaseri.
CPI(M) District Secretariat member, M Prakashan, presided at the memorial meeting in Kannur. State Secretariat member A Chandan delivered welcome note. Also in attendance at the memorial ceremony were : District Panchayat President PP Divya, District Committee members Arakkan Balan, M Shajan, Kannur Area Secretary Kp Sudhakaran, Pappinisery Area Secretary T, Chandran and Nayanar’s son KP Krishnakumar.
