Koduman : Congress-BJP centres in Pathanamthitta swung loose as hundreds from Koodal, Enadhimangalam and Kallara snapped longstanding party ties to join CPI(M).
In Koodal, 35 families broke away from Congress and BJP to embrace the red flag. There, the new entrants were welcomed by District Secretary Udayabhanu. 16 families accompanied BJP Ward President Shibu Odakuzhi and 14 Congress families joined CPI(M); Local Committee member TN Somarajan presided over the function. Local Committee Secretary Shibu Nambi was also present at the function.
Several families in Kulathur panchayat quit BJP to join CPI(M. District Secretary KP Udayabhanu welcomed them with red garlands Most among the dissents were members of Mahila Morcha and Karshaka Morcha.
BJP’s national polices and resultant inflation are sore points that prompted most commoners to give up that party. Several in various panchayats left BJP to join CPI(M), a phenomenon witnessed in Kollam’s Kallara too., said PI(M) leaders. Mahesh presided over the reception held there. Former Panchayat president Ramani Sreedharan delivered welcome note.

Elsewhere in Enadimanalam, local Congress leader and family severed party ties to work for CPI(M). CPI(M) District Secretary KP Udayabanu draped red garland to Shalepuram Shankarathil Babu S Jacob and wife Joyamma in welcome.
