Kochi : The High Court on Wednesday said the case against Former Minister VK Ibrahim Kunj, for pressurising the complainant to withdraw money laundering litigation against him, appears valid prima facie.
The court observed there exists preliminary evidence on such attempt and asked Vigilance to submit testimonies of Ibrahim Kunju, his son and other League leaders involved in crafting the contentious contract.
The court also asked Enforcement Director to furnish details of proceedings taken in relation to Rs 10 crore investment made by Ibrahim Kunj in Chandrika daily. The report has to be submitted within two weeks, it said.
The Kalamassery police informed the court that Ibrahim Kunj indeed resorted to criminal intimidation of complainant Girish Kumar, for which it said, there existed evidence. The department has petitioned Aluva Magistrate Court to obtain permission for proceedings under Section 506 of criminal procedure, it added. Incidentally, the High Court had instructed Kalamassery police to inquire into alleged threats to Girish Kumar from Ibrahim Kunj.
