Idukki : Authorities have imposed triple lockdown in four wards of Idukki’s Vannapuram Panchayat beginning tomorrow. Areas marked included Ward 1, 2, 4 and 17.
The district administration warned stringent action for those attempting to violate the shuttering. Essential services including provisions, milk, hospitals, LPG distribution etc have been exempted.
The lockdown will take effect from 6 am tomorrow and up to a week thereafter. Long distance transports cannot halt in the locked areas under any circumstance, the district administration stated.
Recently, 27 persons were diagnosed with covid infection from contact in Idukki. A coronavirus death involving man who had travelled through forest routes in the region, has added to further anxiety.
Apart from four aforesaid wards, the following areas across panchayats have been marked as containment zones.
