Thrissur : If weather favours, the famed Thrissur Pooram fireworks will be held at noon today, the District Collector informed. The Paramekavu and Thirambadi temple Devaswoms had sought permissions from the district administration for conducting the fireworks that traditionally are witnessed by lakhs of people and held on the grounds of famed Vadakunathan temple in town.
Devaswom authorities hope for rains to stay clear in the day. The festive fireworks, part of Thrissur Pooram, was originally slated for 11th of this month but became postponed twice owing to rains.
Security has been beefed up at Thekincaud, where the firework materials are stored. The practical way is to exhaust the entire stock, said Revenue Minister K Rajan, adding that, efforts are on to facilitate just that.
Items secured by heavy police security at Thekincaud comprise giant bomb crackers, zig-zags, mine crackers and palm crackers. 100 meter perimeter outside of the storage patch is prohibited to public.
