Thiruvananthapuram: The third phase of elections to local self-govt institutions drew impressive turnout in the four northern districts, with 24 percent of voters casting their ballot in the first hour itself.
Malappuram recorded highest number of voting at 24.49 percent, Kozhikode followed 23.51 percent, and Kannur, Kasaragod recording 23.92 and 23.79 percent respectively.
As in the earlier two phases spanning south and central districts, voters today too formed long queues in front of booth prior to opening hour of 7 am morning. The voting process is being carried out with adherence to covid protocols.
Malappuram reported voting machine glitches in some of its wards which were eventually fixed and voting duly continued.
