Thiruvananthapuram : Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan  extended wishes to people  on the occasion of 74th Independence Day.

CM's Message :We are passing through unprecedented times amid the deadly covid pandemic that’s hit the nation and rest of the world. The government priority of ensuring that no one went hungry owing to lockdown, has stood Kerala as a striking outlier to rest of the country. Conditions today indicate, we’d be travelling alongside the virus for a time longer than presumed initially. It is a scenario that calls for our unified and collective effort to  contain the pandemic.

Times now more than ever, also demand our unity  in terms of social and cultural consciousness. To the sections of our society saddled with backwardness from historical circumstances, we owe a helping hand to have them come into  the mainstream.

Our freedom, the secular and democratic nature of our constitution.. must all be preserved with vigil, higher than ever. Let us unite to build a new India by upholding  unity  and mutual trust of all countrymen, by preserving values laid in the constitution, by defeating imperialistic maneuvers, by protecting rights of all citizens and  by strengthening secularism. Let us work for times when our country, with its colorful and  diverse cultures, will eventually rise above its ambivalence  Together, let us  march  toward those days to come, when all men will be equals. “
