NEW DELHI : The Education Ministry informed a parliamentary panel there were no plans for allowing schools around the country reopen in September owing to continued surge in coronavirus across the country. October reopening too appears unlikely and possibility in December has not been decided upon, it said.
Plans are to avoid giving up on the curren academic year, by continuing classes online and conducting exams necessary. Students will not lose an academic year, the Ministry assured.
The Centre had earlier planned phased reopening for schools nationwide in September. The 10, 11 and 12 classes were slated to open in the first phase, followed by grades from 6 - 9 in the second with a maximum of 33 percent students and teachers in attendance on any given day.
