Infighting Peaks : BJP Without Oppn Leader In Karnataka

Mangaluru :In aft of bigtime defeat, infighting peaks over Opposition Leader post in Karntaka’s BJP. When the Budget session commenced in the Assembly on Monday, the proceedings progressed without a Leader of Opposition. Without saying, BJP stands in centre of ridicule failing to come up on a leader despite 50 days past   election results. As headlocks continue unabated, Mansukh Mandavya and Vinod Tawde were deputed as central observers.

According to sources, with former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa out of the picture, former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bomme will be appointed Opposition Leader. Driving in  wedge from the official side are  State President Nalin Kummar Kattil and National General Secretary CT Ravi.  They recommend former minister V Sunil Kumar MLA for the post, citing his close ties with the RSS.  Meanwhile former Union Minister Basangowda Patil Yatnal and former minister R Ashoka are also vying for the post.

Shettar Elected As MLC
Three Congress leaders, including former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, were sworn in as  Members of  Legislative Council(MLCs).  Shetttar, Congress National Secretary NS Bosaraju and Tippanappa Kamaknoor were elected unopposed. These seats were vacated following resignation of Baburao Chichansur, R Shankar and Laxman Savadi. Shettiar, who contested and lost from Hubballi- Dharwad Central constituency in the Assembly elections of  May. In the 224-member House, Congress has135 seats, BJP 66 and JDS 19.
