Thiruvananthapuram : Institutions running higher education courses shall open from 18 October, in prelude to which, the Higher Education Minister R Bindu convened a meeting of principals on Tuesday.
For those below 18 and non-vaccinated, there shall be online classes available. Inoculation for the rest shall be sped up. There shall be no excursions from colleges, at least for the time being. The campuses shall operate strictly adhering to guidelines issued by Covid Assessment Committee, the minister said.
The committee shall be updated on conditions prevailing now. Detailed order shall be published shortly. Also, discussions shall be held with Vigil Committees across campuses. All spaces where students are likely to move about shall be disinfected, the minister said.
Classes must commence with detailed orientation on Covid protocols. Also classes on gender parity as per Order should be conducted. Teachers shall be given classes on the topic shortly in this regard. Counseling centre should be arranged for at all campuses and detailed circular on the facility should be distributed. Appropriate timings and shifts should be charted out as deemed necessary, the minister said.
