Thiruvananthapuram : The government will launch integrated registry(Unified Social Registry) in order to speed up remittances from its various welfare schemes to deserving beneficiaries and to make the process transparent. Eligible persons for various relief aids, including welfare pensions, will be identified from the registry The Finance and IT department will work together to formulate the registry as part of the Rebuild Kerala Initiative(RKI) .
The National Informatics Centre(NIS) will develop the required software and ensure data protection. The sanction for the RKI project came about at a high-level meeting convened by the Chief Secretary. The project is set to obtain cabinet nod in the coming days. Currently, the various relief schemes use their own and separate lists for making remittances - a glitch owing to which, several ineligible persons avail benefits and a number of deserving candidates remain outside the list. There are also persons who wrongfully enjoy multiple aid remittances. The unified registry, based on Aadhaar Vault System and accessible to all departments, will plug that loophole.
Once operational, the Finance Department will be in-charge of the Aadhaar Vault System as well as the unified registry. The IT department will provide technical and monitoring assistance and RKI will provide the funding required. The registry will integrate department of food, local governance, agriculture, minority welfare, social justice, revenue, disaster management, and various corporations and welfare boards. It will thus become possible for any department to pick its beneficiary from the registry for individual schemes.
