Thiruvananthapuram : Following protest from state government against cancellation of two important train services, the Railways on Saturday signaled its willingness to keep Janashatabdi and Venad Express services running.
The trains slated for cancellation from 12th September included 2 Janashtabdis - Thiruvananthapuram - Kozhikode and the Thiruvananthapuram - Kannur one, plus the Thiruvananthapuram - Venad Express. The Railways had cited sparse travelers owing to covid conditions in the state for its cancellation plans following which, the Minister G Sudhakaran wrote to the centre, pointing out how scores of daily commuters relied on these trains for their work, livelihood and travel. Cancellation would leave large number of people in the lurch amid the pandemic, the minister said in his letter.
