Kochi : Judges must not participate in “Court Lamp(കോടതി വിളക്ക്) ritual at Guruvayur temple, ruled the Kerala High Court on Wednesday. It is unbecoming of courts to be part of any religious activity. Dubbing the event as “Court Lamp(കോടതി വിളക്ക്)” is inappropriate in itself, the High Court observed, adding that, the Thrissur District judge has issued ruling in this regard.
Judicial officers shall not participate in the event or its organising, either directly or indirectly, the Court clarified. Courts being a constitutional establishment, neither judicial staff nor lawyers should take part in the event, the court directed.
