Thiruvananthapuram: Within hours of BJP state president K Surendran announcing E Sreedharan as party’s CM candidate, the union minister V Muraleedharan denied the news. K Surendran’s declaration came amid a reception for “Vijay Yathra” at Thiruvalla. At first, V Muraleedharan endorsed the information only to retract soon after. BJP has not decided its Chief Ministerial candidate, he said. The initial response came on misunderstanding that the television news was a party announcement.
The president announcing chief minister candidate unilaterally before party gave out its candidate list, led to arguments among leaders. One section send its complaint to the national leadership following which, Muraleedharan withdrew his initial acknowledgement Earlier, the leaders had clashed over party’s approach to League.
Early in the day, E Sreedharan told media he was resigning his post as Chief Advisor to DMRC in preparations to fight polls, adding that, he wishes for a seat not too far from his home.
