Manichan, the main accused in Kalluvathikal hooch tragedy was released today after having served 22 years in prison. He walked out of Nettukal open jail Friday morning.
The case dates back to 21 Oct in 2000 when 31 people were killed in Kalluvathikal after consuming poisoned liquor. Manichan was sentenced to 22 years in prison and a penalty of Rs 30 lakhs – a sum he failed to come up with so far.
