Kochi : 1113.33 acres of land has been acquired in the first phase and handed over to KIAl toward developments at Kannur airport, said Chief Minister, replying to a question put forth by MLA KK Shailaja.
Steps are underway to take up another 804.37 acres and hand over to KIAL. 21.81 hectares acquired are from Kolari and Keezhallur villages. These, as part of airport development, have been assigned to KINFRA for setting up of industrial park there.
Funds have been sanctioned for acquiring of 202.34 acres from Keeshoor and Pattanoor villages, the acquisition process of which is underway. The social impact study and subdivision survey for land marked in other villages, have been completed, said CM.
It is estimated that roughly 162 families will have to be rehabilitated in takeover of 99.3235 acres meant to widen the airport’s runway from current 3050 to 4050 meters.
Currently, permission has been granted to acquire 14.65 acres of land for rehabilitation and notification( in this regard(11(11)) has been published for the purpose.
A total 99.3235 acres of land must be acquired for broadening the runway, the costs of which figure at Rs 941,93,77,123.
The Minister for Cooperatives and Registration, VN Vasavan spoke on CM’s behalf, clarifying that land acquisition is being carried out at a fast pace.
