Karnataka Landslide : Long Boom Excavator Pressed Into Search Operation; Will Remove Soil From 60 Ft Under

Ankola As rescue teams scramble to search for Kozhikode native Arjun and at least ten others believed to be trapped under vast swath of earth following major landslide on national highway in Karntaka’s Ankola on 16 July, a long-reach excavator has been pressed into operations with boom length capable of removing soil far under as 60 feet below.

Today again, the search will focus on a spot inside Gangavali river indicated by sonar signal as where the missing truck  is lodged. The spot was identified by Navy with its deep search detectors. The search today will involving excavation of mud and debris the landslide deposited on the river floor.

Arjun hails from Kozhikode and disappeared at the site of landslide along with the heavy duty truck he was driving at the time.
