Mangaluru : A RT-PCR negative certificate is now a must for Karnataka bound travelers from Kerala. The rule came into force once again after Kerala reported Delta Plus cases recently. With this, strict surveillance has been deployed at Karnataka’s southern border shared with Kerala. Those arriving without the mandatory certificate are being send back.
As per government order, RT-PCR negative certificate is a must for people arriving via all border passages in the southern district, said Deputy Commissioner(DC) Dr. KV Ramachandran. Police have been deployed at checkposts of Thalapadi, Nettanike, Mdharu, Saradake and Jalasur to discourage unnecessary travel, he added.
The administration has been requested for to set up check posts at all border villages. All hospitals have been instructed to mandate covid-negative certificates for patients from Kerala and those accompanying them. Also covid testing centres have been along border around Karnataka. Border surveillance has been intensified in an effort to prevent the third wave and also to lower existing infection numbers, DC told Deshabhimani, adding that, travelers by train pose a challenge to that effort.
