New Delhi : Mathrubhumi distorted response in connection with  Karuvannur Bank in its news online, said Minister MB Rajesh and clarified that Mathrubhumi’s comment of him “downplaying the fraud” is downright distortion of spoken words.

No other newspaper, including Mathrubhumi’s print edition, came up with misleading news of   “downplaying fraud”.  The Mathrubhumi Online news was meant to provide ammunition to the social media handles of the  BJP and Congress, the minister said, adding that, the news story was made to appear as criticism aimed at Health Minister, the minister added.

There would be no downplaying or compromising with regard to Karuvannur scam. Even so, the incident lays bare the Central agencies’ politics of lacking  interest to unearth, frauds including those in public sector banks. The gap  between Janmabhoomi Online and Mathrubhumi Online is narrowing. Meanwhile, Mathrubhumi daily has published a cartoon for the news it did not articulate - which of course the artist can arguably claim is but  a  cartoon, the minister said.

The right-wing media should check on plight of various tales it spun such as the biryani mould, dates etc. Apart from blistering one’s palms, nothing really came of  tightening the  noose hard. The media needs new villains and victims before General elections. That’s it, said MB Rajesh, speaking with reporters in Delhi.
