Asianet Team’s Bail Plea Hearing in POCSO Case Deferred To Friday

Web Desk(Tvm)Updated: Wednesday Mar 8, 2023

Kannur :  The POCSO court on Wednesday adjourned to  10th ,  the hearing of plea from Asianet crew seeking bail in the case that accuses them of  falsely featuring a minor girl as abuse victim for their video.  The adjournment came after the Public Presoecutor K. Sunil Kumar sought time for submission of police report.

Asianet Executive Editor Sindhu Sooryakumar, Resident Editor K. Shajahan, Host and Kannur reporter Naufal bin Yousuf and the minor’s mother had approached court for anticipatory bail.

Backdrop: The video titled “Narcotics is a dirty business” was aired in November of 2022 on Asianet channel. A 7th std girl student had featured as victim to drug gang and torture in that interview   It has however come to light that girl in this episode was no victim at all and that the narrative she appears to give is actually voice recording from another interview Asianet had broadcast three months earlier in August.
