Kerala Announces Rs. 20,000-crore Package To Relieve Covid Crisis : Free Rations, Advance Pension and More

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : As the country reels under onslaught of Covid-19 pandemic, the Kerala govt announced a whopping  Rs 20, 000 crore package to prevent the crisis from overwhelming its population.  Pensions due for April would be paid in March and those without social security pension will be entitled to receive Rs 1000.

The jumbo relief package was announced to the media by CM at 6 pm, after emerging from a   risk-assessment meeting held in the capital on Thursday.

 

One more case of Covid has been confirmed, raising the State total to 28. The victim is a Kasaragod native. 31,173 people are under observation of whom, 237 are in varied hospitals, said CM.

 

Rs 500 crore has been announced in health package. The Rs 25-meal announced earlier shall be made available at Rs 20. Hotels shall be allowed to open up shortly. Free ration shall be distributed without distinction to  APL –BPL cards.

 

Kudumbasree will receive Rs 2.000 crore for disbursing fresh loans. 1000 food outlets shall be set up in April itself. All pending arrears shall be cleared in April. Stage carriage charge for buses will be relaxed for one month. Also  Fitness charge for auto-taxis shall be reduced. There would be no changes to exam schedules, CM clarified.
