Thiruvananthapuram : The current strike by private bus owners is absolutely unwarranted, said Transport Minister Antony Raju. The govt has done all it can. A strike leaving students in the lurch during exams should not have happened, the minister said.
The government will raise ticket fares at an appropriate time. However, what private bus owners seek to impress is that such raise would be a result of their strike.
Context : Bus owners are on indefinite strike demanding upping of ticket charges now that fuel prices have risen considerably. KSRTC will run additional services in the wake of ongoing strike, said Antony Raju. CMD issued instructions to run all buses available with each unit. Services to railway stations, airports and hospitals will be conducted as needful, the minister said.
