KOTTAYAM : Kerala Congress Jacob group has split. The Johny Nelloor faction broke away to merge with Kerala Congress(M)’s PJ Joseph group while Anoop Jacob with his set of leaders, plans to continue as Jacob group.
Things turned decisive when Kerala Congress President George Joseph presented a resolution, at a State Level Committee meeting called by Johny Nelloor faction. The resolution, passed at the meeting, put in charge Johny Nelloor, for merger talks with Joseph group. Incidentally, the decision overrode Anoop’s opposition on the matter. Johny Nelloor faction plans to effect the merger at a meeting to be held in Ernakulam on 29 Feb. PJ Joseph too confirmed the impending merger.
During the course of the meeting, Johny Nelloor said Anoop had accepted bribe to bring about the party’s downfall. He is the kind of person who pitched for Piravom seat right at the Church courtyard, upon TM Jacob;s burial, Johny Nelloor said. No sooner had TM Jacob died than Anoop began his talks power politics at the hospital, Nelloor said. And when he was eventually made minister, Anoop never bothered to have a memorial built for TM Jacob, Johny Nelloor accused.
In describing me as someone out-of- mind, Anoop forgets that I walked over to his side forsaking all positions I enjoyed with Mani group, Johny Nelloor said.
Meanwhile, a meeting called by Anoop Jacob at Kottayam is currently underway and is largely of the opinion that, a merger with Joseph group is unwarranted Anoop is bracing to rope in maximum leaders in show of strength.
With Johny Nelloor breaking away, Kerala Congress stands witness to another split.
Anoop reacted to Johny Nelloor’s accusations saying the latter was propagating fake stories and lies about him. Johny Nellor’s way of talking reflects his statue, Anoop said.
