Coronavirus: 82 New Cases Today; 24 Recoveries; Total Hot Spots 128

Thiruvananthapuram: 82 fresh Covid cases have been  reported during the day, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Of them, 53 were detected in arrivals from abroad, while 19 cases pertain to people who came from states outside.

 

Today, 5 health workers tested positive for Covid  while another  5 people contracted the virus via  contact, of whom source of one infection has not been fully confirmed. There were 24 recoveries in the day, said CM. The district-wise recovery figures are: Thiruvananthapuram - 6; Kollam - 2; Kottayam 3; Thrissur - 1; Kozhikode - 5; Kannur - 2; Kasaragod - 4 and Alappuzha - 1.

 

District-wise tally for fresh infections are : Thiruvananthapuram - 14; Malappuram - 11; Idukki - 9; Kottayam - 8; Alappuzha - 7; Kozhikode - 7; Palakkad - 5; Kollam - 5; Ernakulam - 5; Thrissur - 4; Kasaragod - 3; Kannur - 2 and Pathanamthitta - 2. 4004 samples were sent for testing in the day.

 

The total infections reported so far now stands at 1494. 632 persons remain under treatment. 160,304 people are placed  under observation, of whom 1440 remain in hospitals. A total of 1,58,861 are presently under quarantine. 241 people were newly admitted to hospitals today. So far 73,712 samples  have been tested in the state of which, 69,606 proved negative for the virus.

 

As part of Sentinel survey  16,711 samples from the priority sectors had been forwarded for testing, of which 15,264 came back negative. There are 128 hotspots across the stated  currently, said CM in the media briefing on coronavirus.
