61 new cases & 15 recoveries today, total 670 patients under treatment

Thiruvananthapuram, May 30: Kerala Minister of Health, Smt K K Shailaja has informed that 61 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in the State today. 12 persons in Palakkad district, 10 from Kasargod district, seven in Kannur district, six each from Kollam and Alappuzha districts, four in Thiruvananthapuram and Pathanamthitta districts, three from Thrissur, Malappuram and Wayanad districts, two in Kozhikode district and one from Ernakulam district are those who tested positive with the virus.

 
Out of these, 20 have come back from abroad (UAE-8, Kuwait-5, Oman-4, Saudi Arabia-1, Qatar-1 & Maldives-1) and 37 have returned from other states (Maharashtra-20, Tamil Nadu-6, Delhi-5, Karnataka-4, Gujarat-1 & Rajasthan-1). Four are cases of local transmission, two each in Palakkad and Kollam districts.
 
At the same time, 15 patients who were under treatment for the infection have tested negative today. Five patients from Kannur district (including one native of Kasargod), four in Kozhikode district, two each from Pathanamthitta and Malappuram districts, and one each from Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam districts were those who were cured. 590 patients have so far recovered from Coronavirus and 670 are still under treatment.
 
1,34,654 persons are now under surveillance across the state, 1,33,413 are under observation at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 1,241 are in isolation at hospitals. 208 people were hospitalised today.
 
During the last 24 hours, 3,099 samples were sent for testing. So far, samples of 67,371 individuals (including the augmented samples) have been sent for testing. Of the available results, 64,093 samples have tested negative. In addition, as part of Sentinel Surveillance of priority groups, such as health workers, guest workers and those with high social exposure, 12,506 samples were collected for testing and 11,604 samples were negative.
 
Today 10 more places were declared as hotspots - one in Kannur district, two each in Kasargod and Palakkad districts, and five in Kollam districts. There are currently 116 hotspots in the state.
 
 As of now, 1,31,651 people have reached Kerala from other States and countries. 1,621 by ships, 9,796 by trains 19,662 by flights, and 1,00,572 by road.
