Thiruvananthapuram : Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday announced extension of ongoing lockdown for up to 30 May. However, all districts currently under triple lockdown will shift to normal lockdown except for Malappuram. Test Positivity Rate(TPR) in the districts of Ernakulam, Thrissur and Thiruvananthapuram have reduced to below 25% and their active-case numbers have fallen too, owing to which their triple lockdown will stand lifted from Saturday morning, Now normal lockdown will continue in all districts except Malappuram, said CM.
Malappuram failed to so far register decline in TPR despite its triple lockdown. More stringent measures might become essential. Police Force would move to a more agile mode. The Law and Order ADGP will visit Malappuram to take first hand stock of the situation and Police IG will lend leadership to Malappuram-centric efforts, said CM at the media briefing Friday evening.
