The entire health system is on alert. Early detection averted what would otherwise have been disastrous. Scientific measures have been effected in Kozhikode, Kannur, Wayanad and Malappuram districts in this regard, said CM.
There are 1286 persons on the Nipah contact list of whom, 276 are in the high-risk category. 122 are relatives and 118 health workers. 994 currently remain under observation. Of the 304 samples sent, testing for 256 were completed and results received. Total positive cases up to now are 6. Nine in Kozhikode are currently in the Isolation Ward.
All arrangements required for treatment are ready. Medicine and safety gear supplies too have been ensured. Volunteers are chosen and appointed by local self-govt bodies. Special attention of the police is also ensured towards the efforts. The Health department has also set up a psycho-social support team to allay anxieties and extend help, said CM.
