Proud Accomplishment For State Govt: 61,290 People Gain Employment in Two Months

Thiruvananthapuram: In a feat surpassing target, 61,290 people were gainfully employed as part of “100 Days, 100 Projects”  programme which  set 50,000 new jobs in 2 months as its goal. The achievement, apart from exceeding target,  translates to a proud feat given the pandemic conditions weighing down on almost all  overall activities in the economy. “I congratulate all persons who have worked to accomplish this feat,” said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan  at a press conference on Thursday, adding that, a total of one  lakh jobs will be created in four month duration.

When the government  first announced its job despite the pandemic, the  ambition was met with ridicule from certain quarters. That however did not deter it from becoming a reality and upkeeping the promise. Efforts are on to generate another 50,000 jobs  before end of December as part of the ongoing 100-days programme, said CM.

19,607 people  have been absorbed into varied governmental departments and public sector units including those on temporary basis. Another 41,683 people have been employed in enterprises funded on borrowings from government or other financial institutions. Kudumbasree quota figuring at 15,000 expanded to employ 19,135 workers. Most jobs were generated in micro enterprises.  611 persons obtained jobs in hotel industry, said CM.
