Depression Over Arabian Sea; Heavy Downpours Likely; Orange Alert in 4 Districts

Kochi :The Metrological Department forecast likely depression over south-east Arabian Sea by 14th that could trigger heavy rains across several districts in Kerala. Public and the state govt have been advised high vigil in the eventuality.

Orange Alert has been announced for 14th in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam and in districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta  and Alappuzha on the 15th.  

Yellow Alert has been issued for 12 May in Idukki, for 13th in Thiruvananthapuram, for 14th in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam and for 15th in Kottayam Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur.

High winds are likely as depression forms at the sea. Residents in coastal settlements have been advised high alert. Fishing folks are advised to abstain from venturing into sea from 14 onward and those engaged in deep-sea fishing have been asked to return ashore.

Residents in low lying areas, riverside, and landslide prone hilly areas have been advised high vigil as summer rains accompanied by thunder and lightning begins in state.
